About the Event

We can honor the unfortunate casualties of our modern society's need for speed by slowing down, observing the losses of the roads, and learning to make use of them. This overlooked, mocked, and scorned resource could feed thousands of people and give gifts of skin, tools, and natural world knowledge. We will learn to assess age and quality of road-killed animals, how to legally acquire animals, and learn to skin, butcher and process the varied gifts from these beings. There will be some learning of basic tanning methods, but with only so much time don't expect this to be a complete lesson in natural tanning, but rather a good prerequisite. The class will focus on deer with some emphasis on raccoon and other smaller animals for skins and furs.

Open to adults and youth 16 over.

Tuition:  $80

Inquire about tuition assistance if there is financial difficulties.
